Scheme Inspiration
Traditionally Painted light blue fading to pink on the arms and legs with white highlights Unicorn Company adopted a new color scheme after the fall of the Republic of the Sphere using a Black paint scheme highlighted on some panels with a 3 color “NATO” camo pattern of a pink base with white and blue. An inverted pink triangle is located on the left torso of each Mech, on the left side of each vehicle, and on the left leg of each battle armor trooper.
Artists Notes
This is a recent change to the color scheme of Unicorn Company, and also let me find a really nice way to do black paint schemes. It is primered with Rustoleum Slate Gray and then washed heavily with Pro Acryl Black Wash. Once this dries it is dry brushed in 3 stages. First with Vallejo 71.055 Black Grey RLM. It has 2 progressive dry brushes after this with the black grey having a light grey added to it to pick up details.
The camo pattern is done using MMS-005 Pink Primer for the base followed up with Vallejo 71.332 Unders. Blue “Faded” and finally white in a 3 color camo pattern. The Triangle is done with just the Pink Primer.
Metallic parts are painted with Army Painter Gun Metal and the cockpit is done in a classic jeweling effect, or in this case a glow effect using Vallejo 72.715 as the base, which is mixed with the pink primer color to bring the brightness up in steps to pink for any cockpit glow, and when applicable a white dot is added in the direction of the light source opposite the glow.
