Artist Notes

The mini was first primed with AK interactive Fine Grey Primer, then coated with Tamiya PS29 Fluorescent Pink. After that Vallejo Game Color Sun Yellow was used at the base coat. Various panels were picked out in Vallejo GC Gory Red and then highlighted roughly with Vallejo GC Scarlet Blood. AK interactive Basalt Grey was used for the vents, actuators and weapons. The mini was then washed in Army Painter strong tone.

The Stable Icon freehand on the top of the Jenner’s Head was Sun Yellow for the oval, Scarlet Blood for the flames, Basalt Grey for the Sword and finally Vallejo GC Glorious Gold for the pommel and hilt of the sword. The writing was Gory Red and translates to Iron (铁,Tiě) and Hare (兔,Tù) To the best of my knowledge this is grammatically correct a but I do not speak Chinese. Finally the base was painted with Vallejo GC black and hazard stripes were added to the back in Sun Yellow and JNR for Jenner was written on the front in Gory Red highlighted with Scarlet Blood.

The lasers/cockpit/jumpjets were all done by first using AK Interactive Silver Grey and then over the top with Vallejo GC Fluo Green/Fluo Dark Green/Fluo Blue. Dots of the original grey were added to the centre of the lasers and jets afterwards.

Finally the mini was varnished with a AK interactive protective varnish rattle can.

Overall this was a quick paint job, especially for painting Yellow, if I were to continue this scheme I would probably get a different type of pink spray or invest in an airbrush as the Tamiya spray caused slight problems. I chose the name Iron Hare for the Mech because the characters were relatively easy to do and it conveys the role of a Jenner well. Move like a hare and hit like iron.
