Hatamoto-Chi – Miller’s Hussars

by

This is a custom Hatamoto-Chi for a local campaign. The paint scheme is that of Miller’s Hussars, where individual fire teams are allowed to paint their Mechs as they see fit. This particular fire team uses a grey gradient of light grey transitioning to dark grey. Individual art of the pilot’s choosing is then added. The dragon represents the pilot’s Combine origins. Because the Mech is currently operating on Solaris 7, corporate sponsor logos are painted on the banner. The mini is from the CGL Somerset Strikers force pack and uses parts from IWM’s Shiro for the polearm, and a Snub PPC weapon sprue for the ER PPC in the torso.

The paint scheme began with Rustoleum flat black primer. Army Painter (AP) Fanatic Ash Grey, White, and Black were used for the main scheme. Dry brush was used to apply the paint and build the gradient, with normal painting technique to fill in any gaps and smooth the transition. A wash using AP Dark Tone diluted with AP Wash Medium was applied. Dry brush with the above mentioned grey was applied after. The dragon scales used a mix of AP Fanatic Army Green, Guardian Green, Leafy Green, and some Daemonic Yellow. These colors were lightly mixed and diluted to achieve the scale effect. The dragon freehand used similar colors but was guided with an outline applied by mechanical pencil. The banner used Ancient Stone as the base, with a diluted Strong Tone Wash. The individual corporate logos used a variety of AP Fanatic paints in appropriate colors. Joints and gun barrels were AP Death Metal. The sword blade also used Death Metal. The gold accent was achieved with Greedy Gold. A Non-Metallic Metal (NMM) effect was attempted on the sword edge. White, Bright Sapphire, Crystal Blue, and Imperial Navy were the blues used.
