One Month In

Three Atlas miniatures painted red and grey, yellow, and blue

It’s now been one month since we launched the ‘Mech Painters Union. It’s certainly kept us busy as we’ve worked to keep up with submissions, but we’re very happy with the reaction to the site from BattleTech fans.

We’ve published 200 painted miniatures in the gallery, and those have been submitted by 40 different artists! A huge thanks to everyone who has submitted their work, and we’re looking forward to the gallery continuing to grow.

On the community side, our discord has also passed 200 members! It has been great seeing people share their work there and sharing ideas for improving their painting.

We even got a mention in Sarna’s BattleTech news round-up for May: Your BattleTech News Round-Up For May, 2025.

As we look ahead to next month, there are two areas we’d like to focus on in June in addition to just continuing to add more gallery entries.

The first is tutorials. We’ve had an empty tutorials section since launch, and we’d love to start populating it. While gallery entries have some info about how the artist painted the miniature, our vision for tutorials is to have them cover a specific technique and go into step-by-step details. We don’t have a submission form for these, but if you’re interested in writing one, please reach out to an MPU Editor either through our contact form or on Discord.

Our other focus for June is Pride. It’s Pride Month, and we’d love to get a bunch of Pride paint schemes added to the gallery. We’ll be categorizing these as Non Faction Schemes with a Pride tag to make them easy to browse together.

Our friends at the Star League discord are also running a June Pride ‘Mech Parade on Bluesky, so if you have some Pride minis, you should share them over there too this month.

June Pride 'Mech Parade!

Paint a 'Mech in your favorite pride flag color or one you want to support! Starting June 1st, post your 'Mech with #PrideMechParader and tag @catalystgamelabs. BattleTech is a fun and diverse fancom for everyone. Lets wave our colors and show CGL our appreciation.
