Artist Notes

While not officially recognized as the colors of Justin Xiang-Allard’s Yen-Lo-Wang, the art used for this scheme is colloquially accepted as such, and can be readily found on Yen-Lo-Wang’s Sarna page. It is my preferred interpretation, more in the spirit of Justin Xiang’s vengeful character, and far more culturally appropriate than the “rising sun” design found in the Legends art.

Basecoat of Scale75 Scalecolor Blood Red applied over Huge Miniatures Royal Purple, which remains in the shadows.
Designs in ProAcryl Ivory and ProAcryl Bold Titanium White.
Metallics done with Vallejo Metal Air Silver and Vallejo Dark Wash.
Canopy is Scale75 Scalecolor Sahara Yellow
Versus tip: Freehanding is as much about erasing as it is about drawing. I didn’t try to make my white designs perfect the first time on this, I went back with my red and “cut into” the white parts to create sharper edges and points. Take your time and keep your paint thin so it does not become tacky on the brush.
