Artist Notes

All paints used were Citadel Paints and transfers purchased from Fighting Piranha Graphics were used for the number and the unit logo. I basecoated this mini by spray priming it with Mephiston Red Spray primer. Next I mixed a 50-50 ratio of Nuln Oil shade paint with Contrast Medium and applied this as a shade to the whole model (to cut down on the need to re-layer Mephiston Red while still getting a shading effect). I then dry brushed the mini with a light all over dry brush of Mephiston Red. Then I repeated the process with successively lighter drybrushes of Evil Suns Scarlet followed by Wild Rider Red. Metal details were painted with Leadbelcher and then shaded with Agrax Earthshade and highlighted with Stormhost Silver. For the lasers I painted the lenses with Caliban Green, then applied a small interior dot of Warpstone Glow, then a smaller dot of Moot Green at the center, followed by a tiny dot of White Scar at the 1 o’clock position. The cockpit lens was painted with Kantor Blue, then the top left corner was highlit with Ahriman Blue followed by a smaller highlight of Temple Guard blue. In the top right, a small dot of White Scar was added. I applied a number decal transfer to the right shoulder plating and opposite it on the left arm I placed the transfer with the unit logo for the 3rd Sword of Light. The base was painted with Stirland Mud texture paint, washed with Seraphim Sepia shade, then drybrushed with Sylvaneth Bark, then Karak Stone. Small tufts of flock from an art supply store were glued on with pva glue. A rock made of cork scraps was painted Mechanicus Standard Grey, then drybrushed with Dawnstone and Karak Stone and glued on with plastic glue. Finally I highlit the corners of the front facing panel of the base with Kabalite Green.
