Scheme Inspiration
This is a Halloween-themed Shogun belonging to the non-canon Solaris gladiator Jackie O’Lantern.
Artist Notes
Mini was primed with Army Painter Fanatics brush-on grey primer. Limbs were basecoated in Two Thin Coats Doom Death Black, then a coat of Army Painter Fanatics Necromancer Cloak, then drybrushed with APF Uniform Grey. To help the orange pop, the body was first coated in a single thin layer of yellow (APF Space Dust) before layering oranges (APF Molten Lava followed by Burning Ore). A quick wash of Citadel Nuln Oil provided panel lining, followed by touchups of the body panels with more Burning Ore. Vents and exposed actuators were detailed with APF Weapon Bronze. Missile ports on the arms and torso were dotted with TTC Demon Red on a toothpick; the sensor port on the torso SRM launchers is APF Ice Yellow. Cockpit jeweling is a base of TTC Doom Death Black, then APF Arctic Gem, APF Bright Sapphire, and finally TTC White Star. Torso laser ports are APF Rainforest. The shoulder PPC was done with an initial layer of TTC White Star, then a wash with APF’s fluorescent Plasma Coil Glow, then a thin coat of APF Bright Sapphire, a few dots of TTC White Star, and finally one more splash of Plasma Coil Glow. Finally, the jack-o-lantern eyes and smile were freehanded on the torso, initially in TTC Doom Death Black, then several coats of APF’s fluorescent Lens Flare Glow.
