Scheme Reference
The Colonial Marshals utilize a scheme of brown with large black splotches reminiscent of ancient Terran painted horses. The largest of the spots covers most of the left torso and shoulder. A Marshal may paint kill markers on the ‘Mech’s fore-arms: skulls for pirates and red “x’s” for everything else.

I started with a base coat in chocolate brown. Any paint of your preference will do, this one was Folkarts “Coffee Bean”. After the main coat is dry, I started applying effectively splotches, or patches of black to onto each mech. If you like you can use a reference image of a real horse to help. Finally I gave the mech a wash in black tinted wash, and did details like the cockpit, lasers and autocannon, which can be done to your preference. the base was a very simple base using premade grass tufts until it was completely covered.
