The SLDF used several standard paint schemes, including:

Artist Notes
Primed black with Vallejo airbrush, zenithal grey ink (liquitex), heavy dry brush with ice yellow (Vallejo) for edge highlights. Gloss sprayed (Vallejo) then black oil washed (Winsor-Newton). Sponge off excess oil. Once dried then matte spray (Vallejo). You can paint, but airbrush works best, militarum green (citadel) contrast paint over everything. Picked out details with gunmetal (army painter) and nuln oil (citadel) over the metallics. Sponged on dark rust (Vallejo) to areas to give more depth and detail. Most important is AK Ultra Matta varnish over top to get rid of the very satin finish that contrast paint leaves behind.
