Scheme Reference
Clan Coma Bat utilizes a scheme of dark indigo on the center torso, lower legs, and lower arms. The side torsos, upper arms, upper legs, and additional details are a tropical orange and yellow. Uneven polka-dots transition between the colors.

Artist Notes
I will reference mixtures with ratios in this scheme. Do not be intimidated by the exactness of mixtures, ultimately this is all vibes based and what matters is whether the color looks good to you.
The entire miniature was zenithal primed.
The indigo was blocked in with ProAcryl (hereafter PA) dark purple, highlighted with a 50/50 mix of PA Dark Purple and PA Blue. Just paint the areas that should be blue, avoiding over-paint.
The orange was blocked in with a 70/30 mix of PA red oxide and PA orange, then highlighted with PA orange.
PA Warm Yellow stripes were added on-top of the orange where it meets the indigo.
Finally, polka-dots were added. This was taken from a technique popular for “coconut crab” tyranids in Warhammer 40,000, and I recommend looking these up for additional reference. Here is the strategy.
– To make dots, put a good amount of paint on the tip of your brush such that you can dab a dot onto the mini with surface tension. The dot should be at least 1mm, don’t make them too small.
– Don’t go crazy with the dots either, less is more. Add a few of every color and then decide if it needs more.
– Dots can go shortly into the opposing color areas, and also directly on the edge of their own color borders.
– Yellow dots must be applied on-top of orange. Putting yellow directly over blue will never look good.
The cockpit is black, PA green and PA faded green.
Metal is PA dark silver, heat sink vents are PA bright gold.
The entire mini has been treated with a black PA newsh wash to bring out panel lines.

Clan Coma Bat Lore
Within the hinterlands, a band of engineers, amateur Mech-jockeys, sustainable vegan farmers, stoners, and avant-gardists take up abandoned Jade Falcon facilities and form an anarcho-commune using a loose parody of the Clans as a framework. This is…Clan Coma Bat.
The Coma Bat Khan, Natalie Spencers, volunteered for the position since she “didn’t have much else going on and was pretty good at team-building exercises.” Natalie was effectively unchallenged as most people either recognized her abilities or were not interested in that much responsibility. A number of SaKhans assist in organizing castes and delegating tasks.
The castes of Clan Coma Bat are really just loose work initiatives anyone can join at any time, as (not being a real clan), there is no eugenics program or ridiculous notions of genetic predisposition to work. There is a cafeteria caste, a camoufleur caste, and a dispensary caste to name a few. SaKhan Tyrone Jackson remarks “Its not really castes at all, but that didn’t stop the Capellans and wont stop us.”
