Ebon Jaguar – Clan Smoke Jaguar, Beta Galaxy

by

Scheme Reference

Beta paints its ‘Mechs in a multilayered grey camouflage consisting of horizontal streaks, meant to represent a mist. Bloodnamed warriors paint large felid eyes on the torso of their ‘Mechs, and may even add other felid features as well. Kills are marked by smaller pairs of eyes placed randomly on the ‘Mech, though some warriors have taken to placing them near the weapons which delivered the final blow.

Artist Notes

All paints used were Citadel.

I began by spraying the models with an undercoat of Mechanicus Standard Grey. Lines of Corvus Black were then added in a but of a random, meandering pattern. Generally I started low and left and carried the line up and right, but often branched off and joined them up together as I went. After that, the process was repeated with Administratum Grey, making sure to overlap all 3 colors often. The armor was then dryburshed with Ulthuan Grey all over.

Metallic details were Iron Warriors washed with a 50 50 mix of Agrax Earthshade and Contrast Medium, then raised sections were layered with Leadbelcher.

The cockpit was painted Khorne Red, then glazed very lightly over around 60 percent from left to right with Evil Suns Scarlet. Wild Rider red was then used to outline the left hand side and sharper edges, then highlighted again with Fire Dragon Bright, then Yriel Yellow. A dot of white scar was used as a specular highlight opposite the brighter colors.

The medium laser was done with Caliban Green, Moot Green, then 75:25 Moot Green and White Scar, with a White Scar dot oppose the highlights.

The same method was used forcthe Gauss Rifle, but with Pink Horror, Screamer Pink, and White Scar.

SRMs were dotted with Averland Sunset, which was also used to create the shape of the eye markings, which were finished with Abbadon Black.

The base is Stirland Mud texture paint washed with Seaphim Sepia and then drybrushed with Tyrant Skull very lightly witg woodland scenics flock glued down to create bushes.

Water details where painted with The Fang and then stippled with Thunderhawk Blue followed by Blue Horror, before being paijted with Vallejo Water Effect Paste.
