Artist Notes
This particular Black Knight has a lot to live up to, not only being the command ‘Mech for Duchess Danai Liao-Centrella, but her replacement after retiring the legendary machine used during her Solaris Gladiator career,Yen Lo Wang. Danai once faced Julian Davion, and named her ‘Mech after him in order to remind herself of the lessons learned from that battle.
I painted this machine in a metallic variant of the 2nd MAC’s blue as part of some early experiments with Turbodork colors.
The basecoat was created by priming in black, then coating the mini in Turbodork Blue Raspberry. The ‘Mech was then sprayed from above with Scale75 Caribbean Blue, and then again with Turbodork Ice to Never. The result is a metallic cyan with subtle metallic indigo in the shadows.
Yellow highlights were done with Scale75 Sahara Yellow
Metallics were done with Vallejo Metal Air Silver and washed in Vallejo Dark Wash.
