Dire Wolf – Blåhaj

Scheme Inspiration

This Dire Wolf is painted to look like the shark plush sold by IKEA: blue with a white belly, complete with eyes and mouth nose art. Cute!

Artist Notes

The base blue is a mix of Army Painter Warpaints Crystal Blue, lightly tinted with Ash Grey. The belly is Army Painter’s Matt White. Gun bits and other greebly bits (vents n such, breaks up the entire mini being blue) are painted in Warpaints Fanatic Deep Grey. MIG Productions’ Dark Wash is washed over the whole model, with the blue and white dry brushed back over to clean up afterwards.

The nose art (eyes and mouth) are done freehand, but luckily some of the panel lining helps keep it lined up and somewhat symmetrical. For the eyes, start with Warpaints Fanatic Leather Brown ovals, then Warpaints Fanatic Matt Black pupils, then a lil dot of matt white. The mouth is a crescent of Warpaints Fanatic Pixie Pink (again, the panel lines help guide) then use a tiny brush to dot in the teeth with matt white. The cockpit glass is done with Warpaints Fanatic Daemonic Yellow, accented with matt white shine spots.

The base color is a craft store Craft Smart Spanish Olive. The front hex side is a transgender pride flag, made with the white and pink used on the model, plus a craft store DecoArt Indian Turquoise for the light blue part of the flag.
