Artist Notes
1. Mini was airbrush primed with ProAcryl (PA) Dark Purple.
2. A base layer of Vallejo Model Color (VMC) Military Green is airbushed.
3. Medium drybrush of PA Dark Yellow Green using a softer bristled brush followed by a light drybrush of AK Faded Green using a shorter, stiffer brush.
4. Apply accents: a. Metallic accents: PA Magnesium, PA Light Bronze highlights applied after the final matte coat to retain its shine. b. Red accents: PA Red Oxide shade, PA Bold Pyrrole Red midtone, VMC Faded Red highlight. c. Silver accents: PA Dark Silver shade, Vallejo Metal Color Duralumin.
5. Spot application of gloss varnish on decal locations then apply decals using MicroSet and MicroSol. a. Decals: FPG Unit decals, DRD Stencil numbers, Flight Deck Decals F-16 Supplement
6. All-over matte varnish to seal once the decals have set.
7. Apply an acrylic wash of PA Brown Wash except for PA Payne’s Grey Wash over the portions.
8. cockpit/weapon/lens jeweling: a. Cockpit glass: PA Dark Burgundy, VMC Burnt Red, PA Red Oxide, VMC Amaranth Red, Warpainter Fanatic (WPF) Flickering Flame b. PPC: WPF Royal Blue, WPF Arctic Gem, VMC Sky Blue. c. Green lens:. PA Black Green, WPF Greenskin, WPF Emerald Forest, VMC White d. Barrel and vent recesses: Musou Black
9. Final varnish coat of AK Ultra Matte Varnish.
10. Base: a. Basing texture: PA Fine Grey Earth and Vallejo Diorama FX 0.5-2mm & 2-5mm Landscape Texture. b. Basing color: VMC Tan Earth basecoat, 1:2 PA Brown Wash – water, heavy drybrush VMC Iraqi Sand, light drybrush VMC Dark Sand. c. Rocks: Primed with Vallejo German Red, based then drybrushed as per the rest of the base. d. Basing foliage: Gamers Grass Dry Green Tiny Tufts and Light Green Tiny Tufts with thinned PA Brown Wash dabbed into the center of the tufts. e. VMC Black around the rim to clean it up then an FPG Unit decal on the front to indicate facing.
